I began my motorsports career racing
motocross many, many years ago. I
retired from that sport at 19 after beating the s’t out of my knee.
An MGB and later a 240Z seemed like a safer way to have fun until I
rolled down a 400 foot cliff.
Next, I decided to quit, when I was ahead by buying a nice slow conservative Toyota pickup. Well, that didn’t last long. Along came a Datsun 2000 Roadster, which did quite well in CSP autocross, but its primitive suspension didn’t make it a great street car. The dependability, low weight, and more advanced design led me back to 240Z’s. I soon bought a 1970 and set it up for autocross and track events. After witnessing a few cars getting destroyed at Lime Rock and Pocono, I didn’t think that it was such a good idea to be flying around tracks in a tin box with 280 hp at over 100 mph. It was time to get a dedicated race car with a full cage. I have been tweaking my 1971 240Z for the last few years while running autocrosses, hillclimbs, and SCCA road racing events. Being new to the west coast, it is going to be a blast driving these tracks for the first time!
